WHO declares the Monkeypox outbreak a 'global health emergency'. 23/07/2022

The World Health Organization Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has today, 23/07/2022, declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, the health body’s highest level of alert.  The WHO said the expanding monkeypox outbreak in more than 70 countries is an "extraordinary" situation that now qualifies as a global emergency.

President Higgins has today signed into law, landmark legislation for a 'Free Contraception' scheme for 17 - 25 year old's. This is a major step forward for sexual and reproductive rights in Ireland, and we look forward to a rapid expansion to the under 17s and over 25s.

The measures are to come into operation by early September 2022.

The contraception scheme will cover the full cost of prescription contraception, including the cost of:

The Institute of Public Health’s new Public Health Matters digital learning platform and app is now live. The WISE E-learning platform is a free, certified training programme on sexual health. It covers a range of topics on sexuality, contraception, consent and more. This programme was developed by the Sexual Health Centre as an aid for people engaged in the delivery of Sexual Health and Relationships programmes to young people.
