Adverse effects of NSAIDs. 07/12/2022

At the ICGP webinar on 7/12/2022, Dr Paul Ryan, GP and Pharmacist presented important information and updates on NSAID (Nurofen Plus/Ibuprofen use).

Key points: NSAIDs:

*cause more deaths than RTAs. Twice as many deaths as asthma or cervical cancer.

*responsible for 30% of adverse drug reactions. Including bleeding, M.I, stroke, nephrotoxicity.

*check renal function on all those who take Ibuprofen regularly.

The Healthy Ireland Survey 2022: Summary Report. 05/12/2022

The Healthy Ireland Survey 2022 gives a valuable insight into the nations health, including tobacco and alcohol use, obesity, health service use, menstrual health and skin protection. Available at:  http://gov.ie/hisurvey 

The Healthy Ireland Survey is an annual survey conducted with a representative sample of the population aged 15 and older living in Ireland. The sample size is typically in the region of over 7.500 people. Fieldwork to date has been conducted by Ipsos MRBI.

Call for General Practice Nurses to participate in a research study exploring the perspectives of General Practice Nurses in Ireland of caring for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients. 02/12/2022

The Department of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Limerick is currently working on a research study exploring the perspectives of General Practice Nurses in Ireland of caring for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) patients. The aim of this study is to administer a national online co-designed survey, to examine how General Practice Nurses make sense, enact and receive support in delivering culturally responsive care to CALD populations.
